Getting your California Real Estate Brokers License is a wise business decision, whether you choose to actually be the broker of other licensees or not. DRE Information is available online at www.dre.ca.gov. The enhanced professional status and positive business control that a Broker’s license gives you is a huge advantage in the industry. The process of acquiring the brokers license is basically the same as it is for a salesperson except that to become a broker you must either have two years of verifiable full time real estate experience or a four year college degree. You must also satisfactorily complete 8 required statutory courses prior to taking the 200 question state brokers examination. United Educational offers all the DRE approved courses needed. Most salespersons have already completed Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice and probably one additional statutory course. Therefore, most licensees who have been in the business have already completed 3 of the 8 required courses and usually need to complete only 5 more courses. You may have completed some courses with an approved college which may qualify you for some of the courses. These courses have to be approved by the DRE direct.
